Why You Will Love This Lentil Falafel Feast:

This Lentil Falafel Feast has been loved by many cultures for thousands of years! The crunchy falafel balls and pink hummus with flavorful herbs and protein-packed red lentils are matched with roasted spuds, garbanzos, new veggies, and a tangy sauce. It’s wholesome, simple, and fulfilling – ideal for any time you eat. Some other recipes that utilize lentils are: Vegan Meatballs, Two Ingredient Loaded Lentil Wraps, and my Loaded Rainbow Bowl

About the Ingredients:

The ingredients that make up this Lentil Falafel Feast are full of great nutrients, necessary vitamins, and tons of wonderful flavor. Red lentils have a lot of protein, fresh herbs have antioxidants in them, and chickpea flour is naturally gluten-free while also being protein-packed. The Pink hummus is made with healthy beet juice, and roasted potatoes and veggies have fiber and various vitamins. Simply, this colorful recipe is yummy and healthy!

Soaked Red Lentils

Soaked red lentils are crucial in this Lentil Falafel Feast. They’re red lentils that have soaked in clean water overnight or for at least 3 hours before processing the Falafel. Soaking cleans the lentils and shortens the cooking time because it breaks down some of the fiber. Plus, it makes them more digestible and nutrient-packed. Enjoy more lentils with recipes like: Jamaican Jerk Nachos, Two Ingredient Loaded Lentil Wraps, and Loaded Veggie Bowls,

Lentils provide a good amount of protein, fiber, and carbs. They are also low in fat and calories, while also being very inexpensive.

Cumin Powder

The spice cumin brings warmth and earthiness to many exciting recipes. Cumin is a key ingredient in this Lentil Falafel Feast recipe, giving the batter a tasty and fragrant authentic kick.

Cumin has numerous health benefits too, such as easing digestion and calming inflammation. Also, only use a small amount of Cumin or else the spice will overpower your meal!

Chickpea Flour

Chickpea flour, also known as gram flour, is made from ground chickpeas and is a staple ingredient in many Middle Eastern and Indian cuisines. In this Lentil Falafel Feast recipe, chickpea flour is used as a binding agent for the falafel balls, resulting in a crispy and delicious texture.

Chickpea Flour is gluten-free and high in protein and fiber, making it a nutritious alternative to traditional wheat flour.

Hummus

Hummus is a creamy dip made from cooked and mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice. It’s often served as a dip or spread for bread, sandwiches, vegetables, or falafel. In this recipe, we’re adding beet juice to the hummus to give it a bright pink color and a subtle sweetness that adds a pop of color to our Lentil Falafel Feast! I love to use Hummus in recipes like: This Cheddar Broccoli Bake, A Pesto Sandwich, and Mediterranean Layered Dip.

Birds Eye Roasted Potatoes and Onions

Roasted potatoes and onions from Birds Eye come pre-seasoned with a mix of spices and herbs. They’re crispy, tender, and add savory taste to the recipe. They’re also easy and fast to prepare, saving you time in the kitchen.

Potatoes have essential nutrients, such as potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. Onions are high in flavonoids, which can reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. Potatoes are also diverse and can be used in many recipes like: Loaded Chili, Rosemary Fresh Fries, and Smashed Potato Tostadas.

Questions and Tips:

What equipment can I make this recipe in?

To make this Lentil Falafel Feast, you’ll need a food processor, mixing bowl, spoon, and ice cream scoop. You can fry the falafel balls in a deep fryer (oil in a large/deep pan) or bake/air fry them in an oven or air fryer. A plate covered with a towel is also necessary for draining excess oil.

Are the extra toppings necessary?

The added toppings in this Lentil Falafel Feast dish are not necessary and can be changed according to your preference. Some other topping choices are chopped onion, spicy sauce, avocado, black olives, or roasted red peppers. You could also try various kinds of leafy veggies and vegan cheese alternatives.

What else can I serve with this Lentil Falafel Feast?

This Lentil Falafel Feast can be served with pita bread, rice, or quinoa, and a side of tzatziki or hummus. A simple salad can also complement the flavors of the dish! I love to make this feast along with: Spicy Spiral Cucumbers, Berry Mocktails, or Vegan Pigs in a Blanket

How long does this recipe last?

You can keep the Lentil Falafel balls in the fridge for 4 days, but keep the Pink Hummus and toppings apart and add them when serving. Use separate containers for leftovers to keep their taste and texture. The falafel balls taste best fresh or within 1-2 days. You can also freeze the falafel batter (uncooked) for up to 6 months in the freezer when stored in a tightly sealed container.

Will non-vegans like this?

Sure! This Lentil Falafel Feast is a yummy and flexible recipe that all can savor, regardless of dietary preference.
